So, apparently, the federal judge who overturned the hateful Proposition 8, is gay. Wow! Crazy! It’s a conspiracy! Heterosexual marriage as we know it is O.V.E.R. Because everybody knows that once gay couples can marry, all the heterosexuals are going to…uh, well all of them will most likely stop having sex with each other because…. Uh. Well, Dammit, somehow or another it’s going to affect marriage as we know it. Instead of two people making a commitment to each other, it will be… Hmmm.
Yeah, basically I can’t see how gay marriage is ANY threat to straight people. Procreation really isn’t a problem, because this world is already overcrowded. And there are plenty of babies being born every day. And the only time a marriage is threatened by an outside homosexual is when the OTHER person in the marriage is already homosexual and has been fighting it for years, because of THE CHURCH or SOCIETY told them it was wrong to be gay.
And as for Walker being gay, who gives a rat’s ass? If you use the theory that he should not be allowed to rule on Proposition 8 because of his own orientation, then you will have to go back and review all the cases where male judges made decisions regarding males, and female judges made decisions on females, and where homosexual judges make rulings on homosexual cases and where heterosexual judges made rulings on heterosexual cases.
Frankly, Walker was appointed by Bush, so the right wing conservatives have only themselves to blame. Heh.
But it will be interesting to see the newest tactics of the Mormons to try to keep those pesky gay people from… uh… living happy, productive, passionate lives.

I agree with you 120%. I wish that the people that are so freaking scared of homosexuals would just get over themselves. I wish I could donate all my time to finding out every bad hidden secret those that have to keep bringing it up, bringing it up, bringing it up have. (and I didn’t mean bringing it up in a good way)
Good freaking lord. We are all humans. They deserve rights. They deserve to have their loved one be able to make a deathbed decision for them. They deserve “family benefits”.
This subject just rubs me so totally in the negative that I could scream.

All the word marriage does is allow gays the same rights in their union as heterosexual couples…from taxes to health care…
Of course, you bring up the point, now those that have hidden away their urges for societal reasons will run out and marry their hidden gay lovers…so expect an increase in divorce by say…..0005%…with a national average of 50% of marriages leading to divorce, that’s not a huge amount.
Homophobic people; like certain members of my family and several people that I still call friends…get over it…let them have their own families, allow them to live as they would like and quit feeling threatened…
On ward ever on ward…what will the Mormons put themselves behind next? The TBMs will never understand that all that wasted money fighting to keep people from being happy could have been used to make lots of other people happy, create new jobs, a 25 million dollar economic shot in the arm…thrown away on hate…it’s such a consuming emotion…

The reaction that some people have against gay marriage has always baffled me.
Now, I am not an attorney, but it seems to me that the US Constitution was intended to be read and understood by regular people (Star Trek episode flashback…. Yeah, Kirk!), and not interpreted beyond plain 18th century English.
Now, quite simply, article 1 section 10 says, among other things, that obligations of contracts supersede the constitution. A marriage, heterosexual or homosexual, is a contract between two consenting individuals. So, it seems to me, that this whole marriage issue trumps religions, federal rules, and states rules (I think it was the 14th amendment that extended the constitution to the states, but I’d need to check on that)

Everyone is talking about the law, but no one is talking about the facts. I was great on the stand. I showed them that one man-one woman, procreating, sexually active, pair bonds are the only type of marriage we should recognize.

OMG, is that the real David Blankenhorn? If so, I owe him a huge thanks for helping with the fight for equality. I mean I realize the judge invalidated his “expert” opinion based on the fact that he has no peer reviewed research in the area of gay couples or families, but he was a great example of how the push to take away rights from gay couples and their families is only based on fear and hatred of the unknown or those who are different from them. I am sure he will be proud to know that his name will be forever part of the fight and ultimate winning of equality for all gay couples. After all, on that day we will be more American then when we did not have equality. 🙂

Hey, not that it matters but Judge Walker has never said if he’s gay or not. The SF Chronicle stated in an article that his alleged gayness is an “open secret” in the San Fran legal community, but until he decides to confirm or deny that I don’t think we should speculate. Certainly he’s not “openly gay” as some of the pro-Prop. 8 folks are stating. I mean, to be “openly” anything you have to at least BRING IT UP.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I think the legal definition of sodomy is having sex with David Blankenhorn. So be careful out there, kids.
