Okay, Mike Huckabee is succeeding in sufficiently creeping me out to a point where I want to lock him in a room with Tom Cruise and let them claw each other’s eyes out. I mean, SERIOUSLY.
Did you SEE this? Didja? Good God. No, I would say, BAD GOD, rather literally.
“I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution,” Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. “But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that’s what we need to do — to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.”
Romney, along with his Jesus Jammies, is looking better EVERY day. The Hucksterbee? Scary.

I was talking with my S.O. about this, and he said something along the lines of, “well, all the republican candidates are scary–each in his own way”

Here’s what I was thinking when I heard his statement. The image of Huckabee’s God, would not be the same as mine, or yours, or yours…..
Neither would Pat Robertson’s, or Bennie Hinn’s, or Joel Osteen’s, or etc.

I’m still waiting for that “None of the Above” line on my ballot. But this guy is scary and confusing as can be. He leaves you with a big ol’ mental WTF?

I don’t like Huckabee. I hope he loses. However, I was more freaked out by the announcers than Huckabee’s speech.
The speech was talking specifically about court cases that created a “Right to Abort fetuses” or that ar trying to create a “Right to Gay Marriage.” Neither of those “rights” exist in the Constitution. The “right to privacy” is not an enumerated right either.
The way our Constitution works is that, if the people at large are sufficiently upset with the court’s interpretation of the Constitution, then they amend the Constitution.
I would oppose Huckabee’s amendments, but I concede that Huckabee’s speech was fully in line with want the writers of the Constitution would have wanted to see.
The announcers freaked me out more than Huckabee. Their action was to take a sound bite out of the full context of the speech. Huckabee’s thesis is that if liberal courts read the right to abort children and the right to gay marriage into the Constitution, then the people should amend the Constitution. (I don’t agree with the thesis).
The sound bite contained a section where Hucklebee used a preachy literary device. The announcers then tried to say Hucklebee’s thesis is that must amend the Constitution until it reflects the word of God.
Those are slightly different things.
These announcers were clearly involved in a propaganda effort to engender fear of Huckabee by interpretting a literary device he used in support of a thesis as the primary thesis.
I do not like the idea of a presidential candidate wanting to amend the Constitution.
Although I disagree with Huckabee and wouldn’t vote for the clown. I am not going to let myself be freaked out by a very clear attempt to misrepresent a person’s argument.

I don’t think he gets it. The Constitution is there to protect people of ALL faiths (even ones that worship animal turds). You don’t change the Constitution to fit your flavor of Christianity.
