I really think that some people don’t get it. When I find RANDOM hate mail comments, I really DO think it’s funny. I am not kidding here, people. FUN-NY.

This one is no exception.

I laugh at you and your stupidity.

We laugh back, Matt! Ha ha! Let’s laugh together, Elder I. The reason I’m laughing, of course, is not even close to your reason. Matt’s email says he is Elder I. Not really, but I am masking his identity, for his own good of course, because HE was not smart enough to see that by putting together his first name with his email address, I pretty much know his full name.

I’ve made it my personal mission to protect the terminally stupid from themselves. So see, Matt? We laugh together.

And then there’s our new friend Ruth–who by the way should invest in a good grammar course, so that we all are not forced to dig out our eyes with spoons when we try to read her writing. She thinks I am petty. Among other things. Ruth left us two comments. We are so lucky, Trappees.

Very petty!!! Jews dress for days or events, as do nuns, priests…….its not really that big a deal! Would you be saying this if you lived in an arbian country and the women wore DIFFERENT clothes? Would you feel LEFT OUT? Grow up!! Get a job!! Get a grip!! If these things are all you have to worry about in your lives then….well…..poor you!! lol!! Pathetic! Whatever you do dont dress up for christm,as this year!! You might offend a non western person!! I have heard it all now!!!

Name: Ruth | E-mail: ruthcantspell@xxxxxxxxx.xxx

I have had a look at this site and had a wander through the petty slaggings off of the church and each other….I USED to be a member and a MISSIONARY. I am no longer a member out of choice, not out of a lose of faith in god. I think it is very easy to slag god, no matter which religion he is being praised from. It is also a very dangerous game to play. I think that if people are happy and doing the best they can to BE the best they can then who are you, or anyone, to belittle them ? After all, YOU do not know gods mind, you could be WRONG…..ever thought of that?! They could be wrong…so could the pope!! No matter the religion, as long as no harm is done and the best is attempted by the individual, you should leave people alone. We all go with what we feel is right. Thats the best we can do. You cannot ask more of a person.
Personally i think hate mail is very sad. It shows a lack of maturity and concideration for others. Were you bullied as a child or left feeling unworthy in some way? It is the kind of bitching one finds in the playground at school. ‘ Lets make someone feel crap so we can feel powerful and better about our own miserable lives and situations!’ It rarely works long term. You obviously have a lot of anger issues. Therapy maybe?
All the best!…..

I like the “all the best” at the end. Sort of like “We-are-beating-you-with-this-wooden-spoon-because-we-love-you” logic, all wrapped up with good wishes and warm hearts and exclamation points.

Was I bullied as a child? Not really. Ruth, don’t you think you should leave the psychoanalysis to people who can actually SPELL?

This type of demeaning comment, of course, is meant to shut me up, embarrass me, and make sure I never again utter the word “Mormon.”

Mormons, listen up. (Please note that is the plural of the “M” word, so technically, perhaps her comments are working…. Nah.)

I also don’t believe Ruth is no longer a Mormon. But good try.

This, Ruth, is an alternative viewpoint. Wow, amazing. Those exist? Yup.

I like signing “Kindest Regards”, myself…

People, get a life. Natalie’s entitled to her opinion, you are entitled to yours. I happen to agree more with hers, but I don’t dispute that you can have one as well.

However, being an asshat does not win you points with ANYONE.

  2. Cele says:

Before she learns to spell, I hope she learns to consider that you are not against her, you just don’t believe in her religion. Oh wait, neither do I. Oh and when did you stop believing in God? Because, last I recall you very much did. Oh, and Ruth, so do I. And when did not being Mormon equat not believong in God? God does not equate J.S. Ruth. She doesn’t believe J.S. Hold on to your hat Ruth, a lot of people don’t believe in J.S. and that would equate – the majority.

  3. George says:

Personally I like the part when she goes “Personally i think hate mail is very sad. It shows a lack of maturity and concideration for others.” … hahahaha For the person who sends it or the one receiving it???

  4. azteclady says:

Why is it that so often when someone disagrees with someone else (say oh Ruth disagreeing with Natalie), there’s the “get a job! get a life!” bit trotted out?

What, people can’t hold unpopular (in certain circles at least) views if they hold a job or have a busy life?

‘Cause if that were true, most of the social changes of the past couple hundred years would have simply never happened–what with most social revolutionaries being rather busy surviving (i.e., having both jobs *and* lives).

It was, I believe, the fact that their lives were so busy and that even then most people were barely able to raise above starvation/poverty level, that prompted most social change. Only people who are way more than simply dissatisfied (read: bored) with their lot in life will go through the ordeal of defying general convention and inciting change.

  5. Elaine says:

I, too, thought the “all the best” think was a nice touch.

Reminds me of a report I saw on TV in the past few months about Fred Phelps and his “church”. Might have been on 20/20, anyway it was on one of those network magazine shows. Anyway, they couldn’t get an interview with anyone is Phelps’s group, but they got one of the women on the phone.

That woman let loose an incredible string of invective and bigotry against just about everyone in the world, but then at the end of the conversation she let go a “You have a nice day, now” in just the perkiest housewife/grocery checker tone you’ve ever heard.

  6. Will says:

“All the best” added to the end of anything no matter if its nice, mean, hateful or even violent, followed with any string of random punction/emoticons and you automatically come off as being caring and mature… example:

Ruth is clearly confused by this website and the points and thoughts conveyed on it. She makes crazy assumptions like people dont believe in God if they voice an opinion that does not resemble that of their own, or that they need therapy. Like George already mentioned the whole hate mail bit was pretty funny. I wonder if she realized she typed that and read over her email before sending it…. I am guessing maybe no :(…. (ok here is where I say something mean then apply the rule at the top) Maybe Ruth has nothign better to do then send hate mail to people she doesnt understand she needs to “Grow up!! Get a job!! Get a grip!!”
    All The Best Ruth !!!

  7. mlbower says:

Ok. I have to point out a few obvious things here.

    1. Natalie is not going around bullying anyone. She is stating opinions on her very own blog that no Mormon is ever forced to read. If you don’t like it, take your ball and go home.

    2. Ruth can capitalize ordinary words and statements (which when strung together are funny eg. different, left out, used missionary) and yet she fails to capitalize God. Who is disrespecting the Almighty now?

    3. One shouldn’t bash the concept of hatmail while sending it, misspell the biggest of the words in her run-on sentence, or bash a woman known for posting hatmail for her adoring fans to verbally dissect. These things do not portray a person as having much intelligence.

    4. It is a belief among many in the South that you are not really being mean if say mean things about someone as long as you add “bless his/her heart” afterward. I guess the same must be true for Ruth with wishing someone the best.

    5. Anger issues and Therapy? Many therapists suggest keeping a journal and writing about the things that frustrate. Maybe Natalie should try it… Oh! That’s right, she is writing about her frustration. Also, if I am not mistaken, she gets paid for writing. Wouldn’t that be a JOB!

That’s just my take on the situation.

    All The Best,
