Overheard at the Christmas Tree farm….

“….he said he’s tired of bearing his testimony. He said he can bear it in his sleep now, and it’s just losing all its meaning. He wants to come home.”

“Did he call his parents?”

“Yes, they went to the MTC and his dad gave him a blessing. Told him he can’t come home. He tried to reason with them, but he’s doing the Lord’s work now. They told him he was just homesick.”

“Well, of course he can’t come home. We’ll pray for him.”

“But he’s not happy, Mom. He misses me. And I miss him.”

“So what, he comes home and you marry a man who couldn’t even finish his mission? I don’t think so.”

So, so sad. I was in a similar position, pre-eye opening. Stupid cult.

I know from personal experience that Mormonism is bad for women, but here’s a fine example of why it’s bad for men as well.

There are mormon missionaries in Utah? That seems redundant.

I feel horrible for these mormon boys who feel that if they do not serve missions they will never be excepted in there own religion.

I vote that he finishes the Mission.

It sounds like the guy is somewhat a dweeb. If he finishes the mission, then he will get a good paying job with a steady stream of promotions regardless of whether or not he is competent at what he does. Hell, being incompetent is big plus. When people know that their jobs are the result of their church connections, they become even more loyal members of the machine and will gladly work to install other incompetents in positions of power.

If he is really incompetent, who knows, he might become a Utah State senator!

There is a great future for the incompetent in the Mormon Church.

I would recommend joining the LDS Church to anyone who is bad at their chosen profession.

If the dweeb in question doesn’t complete the mission, the poor schmuck will probably end up wasting his life on some dead end job cleaning up the messes left by the politically connected incompetents who completed their missions.

Maybe he’ll finish his mission and she’ll have moved on. Maybe some time away will make him realize he’s TOO YOUNG to be married. As long as another pimply faced couple isn’t marrying-up then it’s a good thing. I don’t see a down side here. He’s away from his parents and soon Utah. She should go on a mission just as his mission is ending. Sounds as if the mother might have been trying to postpone the wedding the only way she knew.

I have seen stuff like that before… always makes my head spin with confusion, very sad indeed.
